A blast at Intel's factory in the southern Israeli city of Kiryat Gat killed one worker and seriously injured two others on 14-10-2026, the Times of Israel and Haaretz reported.
Police said a gas cylinder appeared to have exploded and there was no suspicion of an attack or other hostile act. According to Haaretz, the explosion happened while trucks were unloading gas into tanks, and firefighters said toxic nitrogen trifluoride leaked at the site.
Israel's Fire and Rescue Authority initially warned of a possible hazardous chemical leak, and the municipality asked residents to keep away. The fire was later put out. Magen David Adom medics resuscitated two of the injured workers at the scene.
The plant, known as Fab 28, is one of Intel's main chip-making sites in Israel. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who was touring the city at the time, asked the head of Magen David Adom about the condition of the injured, his office said.
