An Israeli air strike on an apartment in Gaza City's Rimal neighbourhood killed a woman early on 14-10-2026, officials at Shifa hospital said. Israel's military said it struck a Hamas militant and was assessing the outcome, AP reported. Al Jazeera, citing Anadolu, named her as Reem Asaad Awad, 33.
More than 1,490 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire since the ceasefire took effect in October 2025, according to Gaza's Health Ministry, whose figures UN agencies and independent experts generally consider reliable, AP reported. Al Jazeera puts the figure at 1,501. Israel's military has not published how many strikes it has carried out since the truce, the Times of Israel reported.
The ceasefire deal provides for 600 aid trucks a day, but Israel continues to impose severe restrictions on supplies and reconstruction has not begun, Al Jazeera reported. Its maps show nearly two-thirds of Gaza under Israeli military control or access limits, and more than 80% of buildings destroyed or damaged. Many residents still live in tents.
