The Restore Britain leader's post drew a sharp reply from former Scottish First Minister Humza Yousaf, who compared Lowe's language to Nazi rhetoric against Jews.
Rupert Lowe, the MP for Great Yarmouth and leader of Restore Britain, wrote on X on 12-10-2026: "Islam, as practiced by millions of Muslims in Britain, is entirely incompatible with our British way of life."
Former Scottish First Minister Humza Yousaf replied the same day, pointing to the Muslims who fought the Nazis in the British Indian Army. "Lowe's language is comparable to rhetoric used by Nazis against Jews. As deplorable now, as it was then," he wrote.
Lowe hit back: "These aggressive attempts to shut down any debate around Islam have worked for decades. It will not work any longer."
The post follows months of statements by Lowe on Islam and immigration. On 02-08-2026 he called for an end to "mass immigration from Islamic countries" and for bans on the burqa, halal slaughter and cousin marriage, writing: "I am not going to sit back and watch Britain become an Islamic country." He has also called for a full ban on immigration from Pakistan and other countries he calls "rogue states".
Restore Britain, registered as a party in February 2026, has one MP and 32 council seats. Political scientists classify it as right-wing and ethno-nationalist, and Hope not Hate says it has drawn support from neo-Nazis. Lowe disputes that the party is racist and has said his objections are to political and ideological issues, not to individual Muslims.
