Delhi Police detained Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke and All India Students' Association (AISA) president Neha Bora on 16-10-2026, ahead of a planned "Lehra Do Tiranga" march at Connaught Place, Deccan Herald, The News Minute and National Herald reported. Both were detained; the reports did not mention any arrest or charges.
Dipke was detained at his Jhandewalan residence, The News Minute reported; National Herald said he was detained while trying to reach Connaught Place. Police had served him notices barring him from Central Park and citing prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the BNSS. Neha Bora was picked up at Mandi House, where she had called supporters to gather at 5 pm. Her social media team said she had been taken to an undisclosed location without her phone.
Police deployed more than 6,000 personnel and 220 companies of central armed police forces, with drones and extra CCTV cameras, National Herald reported. Hundreds of CJP supporters and student group members held flash protests at Connaught Place and Mandi House, chanting "Jai Hind". Police said they could let a small group wave the flag and sing the national anthem at another location.
The protests demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over the Special Intensive Revision of voter rolls; the Election Commission denies favouring any party. Former Tamil Nadu chief minister M K Stalin condemned the detentions, and Mumbai Police allowed a parallel rally at Azad Maidan.
